Mastercard & Last Mile Solutions Team Up to Simplify EV Charging Across Europe
Mastercard and Last Mile Solutions have joined forces to simplify electric vehicle charging across Europe. The partnership, set to roll out in early 2024, aims to support Charge Point Operators (CPOs) in complying with the upcoming Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR).
The new solution, automatically supporting CPOs, will unify the user experience and streamline payment terminal integration, onboarding, and transaction processing. It will enable CPOs to integrate their existing charging stations with various payment terminal brands, making charging more convenient for users.
Eric van Voorden, CEO of Last Mile Solutions, expressed confidence in their leading market position, providing effortless payment terminal solutions for both retrofit and newly built charging stations. George Simon, Executive Vice President of Mastercard Europe, emphasized the need for partnerships to facilitate the transition to mass electric mobility.
The Mastercard and Last Mile Solutions collaboration seeks to establish new payment standards for the EV charging industry. Starting in early 2024, this solution will help CPOs comply with AFIR, allowing them to focus on their core business and enhancing the charging experience for users.
