Maruti Suzuki Reports Mixed September 2025 Sales, Exports Hit Record
Maruti Suzuki, India's leading automaker, has reported mixed sales figures for September 2025. While total car sales, including exports, grew by 2.7 percent year-on-year, domestic sales dipped by 8.3 percent. The company also announced it would pass on GST rate cut benefits to buyers, leading to significant price reductions across various vehicle categories.
Maruti Suzuki's total car sales in September 2025, including exports, reached 1,54,677 units, up from 1,50,661 units in the same period last year. However, domestic sales stood at 1,12,473 units, down from 1,22,157 units in September 2024. This decrease can partly be attributed to the utility vehicle segment, which saw car sales drop from 61,549 units to 48,695 units year-on-year.
On a positive note, exports touched an all-time high of 42,204 units in September 2025, a 52.2 percent increase from the previous year. Compact cars remained in high demand, with 66,882 units sold, compared to 60,480 units in the same period last year. The recent GST rate cuts have also boosted car sales, with Maruti Suzuki and other automakers passing on the benefits to customers. During the Navratri festive period, Maruti Suzuki received 3.5 lakh bookings and delivered 1.65 lakh new cars to customers in the first 8 days, setting new records.
Maruti Suzuki's September 2025 sales reflect a mixed performance, with total car sales growing but domestic sales declining. The company's exports reached an all-time high, and compact cars continue to be popular. The recent GST rate cuts have driven demand, with Maruti Suzuki and other automakers passing on the benefits to customers. With 3.5 lakh bookings received during the Navratri period, Maruti Suzuki is expected to deliver more cars in the coming weeks and months.
