Manchester United and Jadon Sancho's Transfer Saga Nears Conclusion

Manchester United is on the brink of selling Jadon Sancho to Serie A giants Juventus, marking the end of a challenging chapter for both the club and the player. The transfer, however, comes at a significant financial cost for United, who paid £73m for Sancho four years ago.

According to reports from TUTTOmercatoWEB, Sancho has agreed personal terms on a four-year deal worth over €5 million per season, including potential add-ons. However, the transfer fee is still under negotiation, with Manchester United's asking price reportedly dropping to €25 million, while Juventus has offered around €15 million including add-ons.

The deal is on hold pending Juventus offloading players like Dusan Vlahović and potentially Nico González to clear squad and wage space.

For Manchester United, recouping anything for Sancho and saving on his wages for 12 months is considered a win under the circumstances. The hefty losses that United will incur from the Sancho sale are a necessary part of fixing years of misfires and making the team truly Amorim's.

Sancho's issues with Manchester United predate the arrival of Ruben Amorim and have not improved under the Portuguese head coach. In his four-year tenure at Old Trafford, Sancho made 83 appearances, scored 12 goals, and provided 6 assists.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford is on loan at Barcelona, while Timothy Weah is a player that Juventus needs to offload before finalizing the transfer of Sancho. Napoli is also interested in signing Sancho, but as of now, the transfer to Juventus seems the most likely.

The Chelsea football club paid a £5m penalty to get out of their obligation to buy Sancho, as the deal never materialized. Sancho's future at Old Trafford was a non-starter, and he had a mild loan spell at Chelsea.

Manchester United has been focusing more on selling players than buying them this summer. Along with Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia have been told they are surplus to requirements and have left the club.

The transfer, if it goes through, will allow Manchester United to save on wages and potentially reinvest in other areas of the squad. However, the lower transfer fee compared to United’s initial valuation (~€25 million vs Juventus €15 million bid) might limit the funds United can use for new signings.
