Managing Director Arrested for Illegally Transporting Waste to EU
An arrest warrant was executed on 21.08.2025, leading to the managing director of a waste management company in Weiden i.d.OPf. being taken into custody. The suspect is accused of illegally transporting waste to European countries since 2022.
The investigation, a joint effort between the Public Prosecutor's Office Weiden i.d.OPf. and the Customs Investigation Office Munich, revealed that the managing director transported waste without necessary permits and notifications. This included hazardous and non-hazardous materials like fiberglass, rubber, metals, and electrical waste.
The suspect is also accused of intentionally misclassifying waste and converting it into products to bypass regulations. The waste was then transported to European countries without the required notifications. The investigation, which began in October 2023, has resulted in positive investigative results from German-Czech cooperation. Other companies in the region are presumed to be linked to these illegal activities.
The managing director remains in custody following the execution of the arrest warrant. The investigation continues, with additional evidence being secured and evaluated. The illegal waste management practices have raised concerns about environmental impact and potential health risks.
