Major Operation in Krefeld Uncovers Illegal Employment and Social Security Fraud

Authorities in Krefeld conducted a major operation on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, focusing on suspected benefit fraud and illegal employment. Around 60 officers from the Federal Police, Krefeld Police, and the Financial Control of Illegal Work (FKS) of the Main Customs Office Krefeld took part in the inspection at a construction site near Krefeld Central Station.

The operation targeted suspected violations of social security regulations and illegal employment. Two individuals, a Serbian and a Kosovar, were found to be working without valid residence permits. Additionally, there are suspicions that social security contributions were not correctly paid in two separate cases. The FKS is now intensifying investigations into these suspected cases.

The inspection is part of the ongoing effort to combat illegal employment, ensure fair competition, and protect employees. Authorities are determined to crack down on professional fraud structures, although no specific individual has been named in connection with the suspected unemployment benefit fraud.

The large-scale inspection in Krefeld has uncovered suspected illegal employment and potential social security contribution violations. The Financial Control of Illegal Work will continue to investigate these cases, working to maintain a fair and legal employment landscape.
