Major Mönchengladbach Roadworks: Gracht Intersection Closed, Hügelstraße Sewer Line Renovation
Major roadworks are set to take place in Mönchengladbach, with a full closure of the main sewer line at Hügelstraße 20-90 and a two-week closure of the Gracht intersection for noise reduction measures.
Starting June 14, 2019, the Gracht intersection will be closed to apply a noise-optimized asphalt surface, a project funded by the state of NRW as part of its noise action plan. This surface aims to reduce traffic noise in the area. Meanwhile, the main sewer line at Hügelstraße 20-90 is undergoing renovation with a full closure until February 28, 2020.
In Rheydt, construction work on Limitenstraße is nearing completion. During the Gracht intersection closure, the main street towards the market square will be made one-way to accommodate traffic diversions. Residents can still access the parking lot at the Gracht during the construction period. After the main works, only marking and minor traffic interventions will follow.
These roadworks are expected to cause temporary inconvenience but aim to improve infrastructure and reduce noise pollution in the long run. Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes during the closures.
