Major Labor, Immigration Violations Found in Borken District Raid
A joint operation by customs officers, Foreigners' Office employees, and police in Borken district on Sunday, August 31, 2025, uncovered numerous labor and immigration violations in local establishments. The Main Customs Office Münster, led by Goswin Brehe, discovered a shocking number of offenses under the Anti-Bribery Act.
The inspection, involving nine customs officers, three Foreigners' Office employees, and two police officers, targeted five establishments and one taxi company. In the first establishment, a 68-year-old employee was found working without a valid residence permit. Both the employee and her employer now face investigations.
In a third establishment, several employees were found working without proper registration. Two employees did not have their ID, leading to further investigations. An employee at another establishment refused to be interviewed, resulting in an administrative offense procedure against them.
In another restaurant, multiple labor law violations were found. One employee was working without a residence permit, two were not registered with social security, and another was not receiving the minimum wage. The lead member of the Financial Control of Black Work team at the Hauptzollamt Münster oversaw these investigations, although their name was not specified in the available search results.
The operation revealed a significant number of violations, including illegal residence, failure to report to social security, and minimum wage violations. Goswin Brehe, head of the Financial Control Schwarzarbeit department, expressed shock at the number of offenses found in a single evening. Further investigations are ongoing.
