Major Construction Site Raid in Krefeld Uncovers Illegal Employment and Benefit Fraud

A major inspection was carried out on a construction site near Krefeld Central Station on September 17, 2025. Around 60 officers from the Krefeld Customs Office, Federal Police, and Krefeld Police took part. The aim was to combat illegal employment, ensure fair competition, and protect employees.

The operation, led by the Financial Control Schwarzarbeit, focused on social security compliance and illegal employment. Two people were found without valid residence permits and were illegally employed. There are also suspicions of benefit fraud involving a person receiving unemployment benefits while not paying social security contributions correctly in two cases.

The investigation is ongoing, with no names yet identified for the suspected embezzlement. The Financial Control Schwarzarbeit will continue to intensify its efforts to resolve these cases.

The inspection resulted in the discovery of illegal employment and suspected benefit fraud. Around 60 officers were involved in the operation. Further investigations are underway to ensure all social security regulations are followed and to protect both employees and fair competition.
