Mainz-Mombach Motorway Junction Closes Indefinitely from Oct 8
From Wednesday, October 8, 2025, the Mainz-Mombach motorway junction near Wiesbaden will be closed indefinitely. The Autobahn GmbH des Bundes has announced this measure to protect the existing bridge and ensure safety, following repeated weight restriction violations.
The closure will affect the ramp coming from Wiesbaden over the Schiersteiner Bridge. All traffic from Wiesbaden wanting to exit in Mombach will be detoured via the Mainz-Gonsenheim interchange, approximately two kilometers away. For heavy traffic over 3.5 tons, a longer detour is in place. This detour, about six kilometers long, allows such vehicles to get from the Mombacher roundabout onto the A643 towards Bingen/Koblenz. However, the on-ramp from Mainz to Bingen on the A643 will remain open for traffic under 3.5 tons.
The closure of the Mainz-Mombach motorway junction is set to cause significant changes in traffic flow. Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and follow the detour signs to ensure a safe and efficient route.
