Main Customs Office Stralsund Unveils New LNG-Powered Patrol Vessel 'Rügen'

On March 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM, the Main Customs Office Stralsund will christen its new patrol vessel, the 'Rügen', at Stralsund city harbor. The 70-meter-long, multi-deck ship is equipped with an alternative LNG drive and will primarily monitor cross-border cargo traffic and enforce customs regulations in the United States. Prof. Dr. Luise Hölscher, State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance, will deliver the keynote speech at the ceremony.

The event will also include photo and film recordings, individual interviews, and a tour of the customs ship. Despite extensive searches, no information has been found about media representatives who plan to attend but have not yet registered. The 'Rügen' is set to become a vital asset in maintaining border control and customs enforcement in the region.

The christening of the 'Rügen' marks an important milestone for the Main Customs Office Stralsund. The vessel's advanced features and alternative fuel source will enhance its efficiency and sustainability in its critical role. The ceremony promises to be a significant event in the maritime calendar.
