Mahindra Unveils Four New Concept SUVs, Embracing Electrification and Innovation
Mumbai, India - In a significant move towards electrification and innovation, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited is set to unveil four new concept SUVs on August 15, 2025, at an event named 'FREEDOM_NU'. This event marks a crucial milestone for Mahindra's product strategy and global positioning in the SUV and EV segments.
The upcoming models, named Vision.T, Vision.S, Vision.SXT, and Vision.X, are built on a brand-new vehicle platform called the Freedom NU platform. This platform features a monocoque construction, a significant step for Mahindra in electrification and innovation.
The Vision.S, for instance, is an electric SUV concept inspired by the Scorpio, boasting a futuristic design with a wide stance, clamshell bonnet, and C-shaped LED daytime running lights. The Vision.T, on the other hand, is a boxy, rugged SUV resembling an electric Thar concept, complete with off-road features such as chunky bumpers and meaty tires.
All models appear designed with bold, modern aesthetics intended to appeal globally. The Vision.SXT is likely an evolution of the 2023 Global Pik Up Concept, while the Vision.X is expected to be the electric version of the Mahindra XUV700, known as the XEV 7e.
In addition to the concept cars, a new SUV based on this Freedom NU architecture is expected to debut simultaneously, likely within the sub-4-metre segment given the compact proportions seen in testing.
Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra's Automotive Division, commented on the performance, stating that the growth of SUV sales was supported by the recent launch of the XUV 3XO 'REVX' Series and the commencement of deliveries for Pack two variants of the BE 6 and XEV 9E models.
For the seven months from January to July 2025, Mahindra sold a total of 2,01,938 SUVs, marking a 26% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. The sales of SUVs in July 2025 increased by 20% compared to the same month in the previous year, totalling 50,835 units, including exports. Total exports by Mahindra rose to 2,774 units in July 2025, marking an 83% Year-on-Year (Y-o-Y) increase.
The three-wheeler segment sales by Mahindra saw a 164% jump in July 2025, up from 3,593 units in the year-ago period.
These new models are part of the automotive landscape featuring cutting-edge technology and electric vehicles. The upcoming Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, for example, is an upcoming EV with a range of 500 km and expected to cost between 17 - 26 Lakhs.
Teasers for the new models show rugged design elements with modern architecture, setting the stage for a promising future in the SUV and EV segments for Mahindra. This event is set to fuel Mahindra's overseas expansion, positioning the company as a significant player in the global SUV and EV market.
