More than 300 people from across the commonwealth gathered at the annual Governor’s Safety and Health Conference in Owensboro, Kentucky on August 8, 2025. The event, hosted by the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet in partnership with the Kentucky Safety and Health Network Inc., is a terrific opportunity to celebrate workplace safety and health excellence.

This year's conference included workshops on confined space rescue, emergency response planning, suicide prevention, and many more topics. The technical training offerings covered a wide range of safety and health topics, providing a platform for networking and learning about the latest trends in the industry.

One of the highlights of the conference was the recognition of L'Oreal Walton for excellence in workplace safety and health. Walton specifically logged 1,448,252 hours worked without lost time due to injury or illness. The company was honored for its commitment to safety and health in the workplace.

A complete list of companies earning awards at this year's conference, along with the number of consecutive hours worked without a lost-time injury accident or illness between June 1, 2024, and June 1, 2025, can be found at elc.ky.gov.

Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman, who kicked off the conference luncheon, touted Team Kentucky's economic and workforce achievements, which are helping Kentuckians realize a better future. However, she emphasized the importance of keeping workers safe despite economic achievements and job creation. She urged employers to partner with the KYSAFE program to alleviate workplace hazards and protect Kentucky workers.

Gov. Andy Beshear stated that protecting workers is living out the state's faith and values, and every Kentuckian has the right to be safe while earning a living. He emphasized the importance of workplace safety and health in creating a strong and prosperous economy.

The Governor's Safety and Health Awards Program is administered by KYSAFE, which offers free educational opportunities, training, technical assistance, and confidential services for Kentucky employers.
