The Landesbetrieb Mobilität (LBM) Worms has announced the closure and comprehensive renovation of the county road K32 between Gabsheim and Bechtolsheim/Biebelnheim in Germany. The goal of the work is to improve traffic safety and permanently secure the road surface.

The road renovation, which is expected to cost approximately 1.7 million euros, will commence on August 18, 2022, with the K32 being fully closed throughout the construction period. The county road, which sees approximately 1,800 vehicles per day (as of 2021), will be closed for a period of four years, with the expected completion date set for June 2025.

The construction work will be carried out in four phases and is expected to last until the end of 2026. The detour will go via K31, Bechtolsheim, the L436 to Undenheim, the B420 towards Schornsheim, Gabsheim, and vice versa.

The damage to the road is significant, including unstable road edges, ruts, unevenness, cracks, and numerous repair spots. The renewal of the road surface over a length of 3.3 kilometers is necessary to address these issues and ensure the safety of road users.

It is important to note that the budget for the renovation of K32 has been revised to 3.9 million euros due to the extensive damage found during the initial assessment. This increase in budget will ensure that the road is renovated to the highest standard, providing a safer and more secure driving experience for all.

The LBM urges road users to plan their journeys accordingly and to follow the detour signs during the renovation period. They apologise for any inconvenience caused and assure the public that the improvements to the K32 will greatly enhance traffic safety and the overall condition of the road.

The extensive damage upon initial assessment of the K32 has led to a revised budget of 3.9 million euros, enabling the road to be renovated to a higher standard and improving general-news about the region's infrastructure. The closure and renovation of the K32, expected to last four years, will briefly impact the transportation sector as finances allocated to the industry will be directed towards generating a safer road, especially for the approximate 1,800 vehicles that travel the route daily (as of 2021).
