Local official advocates for genuine unrest in the nation
In the picturesque town of Neustadt/Ehrenberg, the annual "Reception of the Economy" event was held, bringing together representatives from economy, politics, and administration. This year's gathering, hosted by Bauunternehmung Willi Prangenberg GmbH and Prangenberg Bedachung GmbH, was a platform for discussions on current developments, setting new impulses, and shaping perspectives for the future of the region.
Sven Eßwein, a guest speaker, delivered a lecture on "Generation Z - Understand the mindset and worldview of the young." His talk highlighted the shift in values among generations, with meaningful work, self-realization, and fun replacing discipline, money, and status as top priorities for young people.
Approximately 250 guests were invited to the event, which was managed by Sparkasse Neuwied, the Rhein-Zeitung, Süwag AG, Syna, and the deputy editor-in-chief of the Rhein-Zeitung, Thomas Haag. The Specialist Alliance Neuwied was also a focus, with representation from the Craftsmen's Association of the Rhein-Westerwald District, the IHK Koblenz, and the Economic Development Corporation of the Neuwied District.
Landrat Achim Hallerbach, in his address, outlined a four-point program for maintaining the district's economic position. He emphasized the need for a reduction in bureaucracy, promoting a new error culture, returning to values like diligence, discipline, predictability, and reliability, and making smart and targeted investments. He also combined the reception of the economy with an appeal to remember Germany's economic strength.
The values and goals of Generation Z, as observed at events like the "Reception of the Economy" and supported by recent surveys, centre on mental health, sustainability, flexible work, and purposeful careers aligned with personal ethics. Key priorities for Gen Z include mental and physical well-being, sustainability and social responsibility, workplace flexibility and work-life balance, career development over hierarchical advancement, authenticity and alignment with personal values, and pragmatism in life choices.
Sven Eßwein also called for companies to utilise the digital mindset of Generation Z, suggesting they use various apps to attract skilled workers. He also pointed out the internet's close link to the mindset of young people, and a smartphone ban would be a significant hardship for many. Landrat Achim Hallerbach advocated for securing skilled workers through empathy for the mindset of young talents.
The "Reception of the Economy" event in Neustadt/Ehrenberg was once again a successful format, as indicated by the attendance and recognition it received. The event offered a valuable opportunity for dialogue and collaboration, reflecting the evolving priorities and perspectives of the younger generation in the economic landscape.
