A4 and A72 Interchanges Closures and Detours in June 2025

Beginning on 03.06.2025, several interchanges on the A4 and A72 autobahns in Germany will undergo temporary closures and detours due to various construction and maintenance activities. The following is a list of the affected interchanges and the proposed dates for the work.

A4: Chemnitz-Ost Interchange (Towards Aachen)

The on-ramp towards Aachen at the Chemnitz-Ost interchange will be closed from 04.06.2025, between 08:00 and 16:00. The closure is necessary for safety facility work, and traffic will be redirected via the Hainichen interchange as a detour.

A4: Chemnitz-Mitte Interchange (Towards Chemnitz Center)

In the Görlitz directional lane, the off-ramp towards Chemnitz center at the Chemnitz-Mitte interchange will be closed from 03.06.2025, between 09:00 and 15:00. Safety facility work necessitates the closure, and traffic will be rerouted within the interchange.

A4: Reduction of Lanes (Between Frankenberg and Chemnitz-Mitte)

From 04.06.2025 to 05.06.2025 and from 16.06.2025 to 20.06.2025, the second overtaking lane will be closed during the day between the interchanges Frankenberg and Chemnitz-Mitte in the direction of Chemnitz. Ground investigations are the reason for the closure, and traffic will be directed on the remaining lanes past the construction site.

A4: Reduction of Lanes (Between Chemnitz-Glösa and Rabensteiner Wald Rest Area)

From 02.06.2025 to 06.06.2025, the last lane will be reduced during the day between the interchanges Chemnitz-Glösa and the Rabensteiner Wald rest area in the direction of Chemnitz. This closure is due to road surface maintenance work, and traffic will be routed on the remaining lanes past the construction site.

A4: Kodersdorf Interchange (Towards Aachen)

From 03.06.2025, 09:00, to 18.07.2025, 16:00, the on-ramp towards Aachen at the Kodersdorf interchange will be closed. Traffic will be detoured via the on-demand detour (U4) to the Nieder Seiffersdorf interchange or as a detour via the Görlitz interchange. Additionally, the flowing traffic on the A4 between the Görlitz interchange and the Wiesaer Forst parking lot will be shifted to the right and routed past the construction site, with both lanes remaining open. The work is in the area of traffic technology.

A72: Reduction of Lanes (Between Rochlitz and Geithain)

From 02.06.2025 to 06.06.2025, one lane will be reduced during the day between the interchanges Rochlitz and Geithain in the direction of Leipzig. This reduction is due to marking work, and traffic will be routed on the remaining lane past the construction site.

A72: Borna-Nord Interchange (Towards Leipzig)

On 05.06.2025, between 08:00 and 16:00, the off-ramp towards Leipzig at the Borna-Nord interchange will be closed. The closure is necessary for safety facility work, and the detour will be as a detour via the Roetha/Espenhain-Nord interchange.

For up-to-date and detailed traffic and construction updates, it is recommended to consult official German traffic information centers, such as the ADAC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club e.V.) or the official websites of the Federal Ministry for Transport and Digital Infrastructure. These sources offer real-time information regarding planned detours or closures on the A4 and A72.

  1. The closure of the on-ramp towards Aachen at the Kodersdorf interchange on the A4 is part of a larger project in the finance industry, as the work involves traffic technology.
  2. The marking work on the A72 between Rochlitz and Geithain can be considered as part of the transportation industry, as it affects the maintenance of the road surface.
