Lamenting the demise of Frank Strauss on our platform
Frank Strauss, a former Management Board member of Deutsche Bank, passed away last week at the age of 54. Strauss made significant contributions to the bank, particularly in the retail banking business, during his nearly 30-year career there and at Postbank.
Strauss joined Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt in 1995 and held various management positions, including roles in corporate banking and other divisions. In 2011, he moved to Postbank as its Management Board member responsible for sales. From 2017 to 2019, he served on the Management Board of Deutsche Bank, overseeing private and corporate banking.
As CEO of Postbank from 2012 to 2018, Strauss was instrumental in steering the bank through integration within Deutsche Bank's broader retail banking strategy and enhancing its operational efficiency. During this time, he also made significant strides in the retail banking business.
Initially, Strauss oversaw private and corporate banking on the Management Board alongside Christian Sewing, the current CEO of Deutsche Bank. Strauss continued to oversee private and corporate banking after Sewing's appointment as CEO in April 2018.
Strauss held various management positions at Deutsche Bank and Postbank's former subsidiary, the website 24. He was a valued colleague to many at the bank, including Christian Sewing personally.
Upon learning of Strauss' death, Sewing expressed dismay and deep sadness. The thoughts of the bank are with Frank Strauss' wife, children, and loved ones during this difficult time. The bank intends to honor Strauss' memory.
Strauss completed his training as a bank clerk in Iserlohn before starting his illustrious career at Deutsche Bank. His contributions to the bank will be remembered for years to come.
