Lamborghini Gallardo Seized Near Ulm: Driver Arrested on Suspected Tax Evasion
A 36-year-old Romanian man was arrested and his Lamborghini Gallardo seized after it was intercepted on the A8 near Ulm-Dornstadt on July 27, 2025. The luxury car, worth around 120,000 euros, was stopped at around 9:00 PM without proper registration or customs declaration.
The driver was supposed to deliver the Lamborghini to a dealer in East Westphalia, but the car was found to have entered the EU without the required customs declaration, presumably for repair and resale. The investigation revealed that the driver could not provide any customs papers and gave contradictory statements about the origin and purpose of the transport. As a result, the Lamborghini was seized to secure the import duties of around 25,500 euros and a security deposit of 9,600 euros, which could not be paid. A criminal investigation for suspected tax evasion has been initiated against the driver.
The seized Lamborghini Gallardo remains in the custody of the authorities while the investigation continues. The search for the person behind the import of the car without a customs declaration is ongoing, and the driver remains in custody pending further developments in the case.
