Kazakhstan Launches Second Line of Dostyk - Moyynty Railway
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev inaugurated the second line of the Dostyk - Moyynty train on September 30. This significant event marked a crucial step in Kazakhstan's ongoing efforts to bolster its transit infrastructure, with the project aiming to increase operational railway length by 10% and automate sections by 20%.
The Dostyk - Moyynty line serves as a vital connecting link between Kazakhstan's main transit highways and China. Its expansion underscores the strategic importance of the project for Kazakhstan's economy. The project was necessitated by the increased transit cargo volume, which called for enhanced capacity and efficiency.
The OPEC Fund has committed to supporting the expansion and modernization of Kazakhstan's train infrastructure until 2029. This includes plans to build and modernize approximately 5,000 km of new tracks and 11,000 km of existing ones. The project is expected to create new jobs and stimulate regional development, further cementing Kazakhstan's position as a regional leader in transit transportation.
The newly launched second line comprises 836 km of second railway tracks, along with 16 separate points and 92 overpasses. Notably, Kazakh signaling and communication systems have been implemented, reflecting the country's technological advancements in the sector.
The launch of the second line of Dostyk - Moyynty is a testament to Kazakhstan's commitment to maintaining its leading position as a transit state. The project's successful completion will not only boost the country's railway infrastructure but also contribute to its economic growth and job creation.
