Journey from Mecklar to Hünfeld
In a recent interview with HIT RADIO FFH, TenneT spokesman Thomas Wagner discussed the company's upcoming project – the Fulda-Main Line. This power grid project is aimed at increasing capacities in the power grid, a necessity due to the increasing renewable energies.
The Fulda-Main Line will connect several locations, including Mecklar, Bad Hersfeld, Eiterfeld, Hunfeld, Dipperz, and past Fulda towards Bavaria. The exact route of this project can be found on TenneT's website.
Extensive discussions have taken place with property owners and municipalities regarding the Fulda-Main Line. Deutsche Bahn is the responsible party applying for the construction approval of the Fulda-Main Line, with construction work expected to begin around 2028.
The project's primary construction method will be through power masts, but underground cables will be used in Hunfeld and Dipperz due to their proximity to inhabited areas. TenneT anticipates receiving the building permit within the coming year, allowing for construction to begin at the end of the same year. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2029.
No new information about the potential impact on the environment or wildlife, the project budget or costs, the increase in renewable energies, or the connection points of the Fulda-Main Line was provided in the interview. Additionally, no new information about the approval process or the role of the Federal Network Agency was disclosed.
