JetBlue faces a hefty fine of $2 million due to alleged unrealistic scheduling practices and persistent flight disruptions.

The United States Department of Transportation has slapped JetBlue Airways with a fine of 2 million dollars due to persistent flight delays, marking the first time an airline has been penalized for such issues.

As per the DOT's plan, half a million dollars of this fine will be directly distributed to JetBlue passengers who have experienced delays or disruptive issues in the upcoming year.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, in a statement, expressed, "The department will implement stricter regulations against airlines with persistent delay issues or unreasonable scheduling practices to safeguard fair competition within commercial aviation and guarantee passengers are treated justly."

Recently, the DOT has been more stringent with passenger protections, introducing regulations that mandate airlines to transparently disclose all fees on airfare. Donald Trump, who is set to assume presidency, has picked Sean Duffy, a former congressman and Fox Business host, to lead the department during his tenure.

The fine imposed on JetBlue Airways for business-related issues, specifically persistent flight delays, serves as a warning to other airlines to prioritize punctuality and passenger satisfaction.

To address persistent delay issues and ensure fair competition, the Department of Transportation is planning to enforce stricter regulations on airlines, focusing on scheduling practices and treating passengers justly.
