International platform showcases 54 legal professionals as new partners in their 2022 selection
Global Law Firm Announces Promotions to Partner and Director Positions
A prominent global law firm has announced the promotion of 54 lawyers to partner and director positions across 11 practice areas, effective January 1, 2022. The promotions span various locations, including Houston, Texas, United States; Toronto, Canada; Sydney, Australia; and Munich, Germany, among others.
The promoted lawyers represent a diverse range of practice areas, with litigation and disputes leading the way, boasting 18 lawyers. Corporate, M&A and securities follow closely with 10, while banking and finance, intellectual property, employment and labor, tax, real estate, projects, antitrust and competition, information governance, privacy and cybersecurity each have two or fewer representatives.
Geraldine Young, promoted to litigation and disputes in Houston, Texas, is one of the many lawyers who have been recognised for their industry knowledge, business acumen, and innovative solutions. Similarly, Veronique Barry, promoted to corporate, M&A and securities in Quebec, Canada, and Caroline Jodoin, promoted to employment and labor in Montreal, Canada, have also been commended for their contributions.
In Toronto, Canada, Russell Dufault, Tim Stewart, and Brian Chau have been promoted to banking and finance, while Darren Smith was promoted to intellectual property. In Houston, Texas, Denton Nichols and Gerry Pecht, Global Chief Executive of the law firm, congratulated the promoted lawyers.
The firm's clients have praised the promoted lawyers as rising stars, with Victoria Corder, promoted to litigation and disputes in New York, United States, being one of them. Other notable promotions include Anna Rudawski, promoted to information governance, privacy and cybersecurity in New York, United States, and Rebecca Abou-Chedid, promoted to projects in Washington, D.C., United States.
Interestingly, 23 of the 54 promoted lawyers are women, accounting for 43 percent of the total. This is a positive step towards addressing the gender diversity challenges in legal workplaces, where women remain underrepresented in senior legal roles and partnerships despite being the majority at entry and mid-levels.
Despite the progress, there is still a lack of concrete data on partner or director gender diversity and promotion rates for specific global law firms. However, law firms are increasingly focusing on transparency in promotion and flexible policies to support diverse talent progression. Committees within law firms work to identify and promote women leaders, but without quantitative promotion data.
The promoted lawyers will undoubtedly bring their expertise and dedication to their new roles, contributing to the continued success of the global law firm. The full list of promotions, including lawyer name, practice, and location, can be found below.
