This alarming sum marks the highest lightning-caused damage payout in the last two decades.

Last year, insurance providers doled out around 300 million euros for around 220,000 lightning and surge damages in 2023. Strangely enough, the same amount had been spent in 2002 and 2003. He opined that this hike is due to buildings becoming increasingly sophisticated and expensive.
