The 29th CII Partnership Summit, held in New Delhi on December 2-3, 2024, served as a significant platform for global dialogue and collaboration, attracting over 400 international delegates from 61 countries and 395 domestic delegates. The event, themed 'Partnerships for Progress', was organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in partnership with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The summit featured 30 global speakers, including Dr. S. Jaishankar, Hon'ble Minister of External Affairs, Government of India, who addressed the gathering, discussing a range of global issues such as the Ukraine conflict, US-China tensions, inflation, and debt. Dr. Jaishankar emphasized the importance of forging reliable and trusted partnerships with nations, particularly those in India's neighborhood.

In addition to Dr. Jaishankar, 11 overseas ministers from Algeria, Bahrain, Bhutan, Cambodia, Israel, Italy, Myanmar, Nepal, Qatar, Senegal, and South Africa addressed the summit. Mr. Piyush Goyal, Hon'ble Minister for Commerce and Industry, Government of India, chaired the Inaugural Session.

The 29th edition of the CII Partnership Summit featured discussions on globally pertinent topics such as Collaborative Climate Solutions: Bridging Clean Technology and Finance, Creating Resilient Global Value Chains, and Harmonising Global and National ESG Frameworks. Mr. Amitabh Kant, India's G20 Sherpa, addressed the session Development Through South-South Collaboration on Day 2 of the summit.

Mr. Kant shared that countries from the Global South will serve as a growth engine over the next three decades and that technology will act as a significant conduit in catalysing the global south's growth. He also discussed redesigning and restructuring international financial institutions and debt structures to be more inclusive and friendly to nations in the Global South.

The summit included 11 technical sessions and 7 sectoral tracks, and over 500 B2B and B2G meetings were facilitated during the event. Dr. Jaishankar spoke on the importance of fostering innovation, widening skillsets, and enhancing capabilities in the fields of semiconductors and electric mobility. He also emphasized the need to address knowledge gaps and availability of talent, and improve secure connectivity between India and its global partners.

The summit concluded with a focus on the increasing geopolitical and geoeconomic turbulence and the need for policy makers to use national security filters in economic policy decisions. The 29th CII Partnership Summit has proven to be a valuable event in elevating India's commercial relationships with the world and providing a key gateway for Indian businesses to access global markets.
