Indian fragrance startup, Fraganote, secures $1 million in funding; founder asserts the need for an indigenous, iconic perfume brand in the country.
Fraganote Fragrances, an Indian brand co-founded by Garima Kakkar and Arjun Anand, has raised $1 million in a pre-Series A funding round. The lead investor in this round was Rukam Capital, a venture capital firm that believes in Fraganote's potential to revolutionize the premium fragrance market.
The brand aspires to become an iconic perfume house, modern, accessible, and appealing to a new generation of consumers. Fraganote's ambition is not limited to India but extends globally, aiming to lead a premium fragrance revolution.
Archana Jahagirdar, Founder and Managing Partner of Rukam Capital, expressed her excitement about Fraganote's creative distinctness, operational discipline, and long-term scalability. Garima Kakkar, co-founder of Fraganote, emphasized the brand's originality, brand voice, and deep understanding of India's evolving scent culture.
With the raised capital, Fraganote plans to expand its fragrance portfolio, introducing new scent-forward formats. The startup also aims to strengthen its supply chain and fulfillment capabilities for pan-India distribution and invest in integrated omnichannel touchpoints.
To enhance consumer engagement, Fraganote will launch offline retail pilots and immersive brand experiences. The brand also plans to engage in strategic partnerships and pop-up activations. Fraganote Fragrances offers a unique range of scents, including Baked Vanilla, Drunken Cake, and Beach Holiday, all developed in-house.
The funding received by Fraganote is timed with India's perfume market growth. According to industry reports, the Indian perfume market is expected to reach $873.3 million by FY2032, with a CAGR of 15.23% between FY2025 and FY2032.
Rukam Capital, the lead investor, believes in Fraganote's potential to capitalize on this growth and become a significant player in the premium fragrance market. Fraganote's co-founders share this vision and are committed to making the brand an iconic perfume house, modern, accessible, and appealing to a new generation of consumers, not just in India but globally.
As Fraganote embarks on this exciting journey, it is poised to make a significant impact on the premium fragrance market, offering unique scents, immersive brand experiences, and a strong commitment to quality and innovation.
