American Farm Bureau Federation Announces Increase in Thanksgiving Dinner Cost

The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF), a reputable organization that provides information about food prices and farming, has announced that the cost of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner for 10 people has increased from last year's average.

According to John Anderson, Deputy Chief Economist of the AFBF, the average cost of Thanksgiving dinner for 10 people is now $49.41. This represents a small increase of 37 cents compared to last year's average of $49.04.

The cost of the dinner includes a variety of traditional items such as turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, dinner rolls, peas, cranberries, a relish tray of carrots and celery, pumpkin pie, coffee, and milk, with plenty of leftovers. The volunteers who conducted the survey were instructed to find the best prices but not include special deals or promotions.

However, the AFBF has not provided specific information about which ingredients had the biggest price jumps in the latest survey. They have also not announced any new findings about the overall increase or decrease in the cost of Thanksgiving dinner for 10 people compared to last year's average.

The AFBF conducted this year's survey by sending 179 volunteers in 35 states to grocery stores. It's important to note that the cost of the dinner does not include additional expenses like travel or decorations.

John Anderson also stated that the cost of Thanksgiving dinner for 10 people is less than the cost of most fast-food meals. He mentioned that the cost is about $5 per serving, making it a relatively affordable option for many families during the holiday season.

The American Farm Bureau Federation has been providing such reports for many years, helping consumers understand the cost of food and plan their holiday meals accordingly.
