Illegal Residence & Employment Discovered at Major Construction Site
A routine inspection at a major construction site in the Schleswig-Flensburg district has uncovered illegal residence and employment. The local alien authority has since taken further measures.
The inspection revealed that three third-country nationals were working without valid residence permits or work permits. A criminal investigation has been launched against their employer for suspected involvement in their illegal residence and unauthorized employment.
Indications of sham self-employment were also found. An intermediary from an Eastern European country had recruited self-employed persons. A total of 25 employees from 15 companies and several self-employed individuals were inspected and questioned about their employment relationships. The exact company involved in this potential false self-employment case has not been named due to lack of specific information.
The discovery of illegal residence and employment has led to criminal proceedings against the employer and the three affected third-country nationals. The local alien authority has taken further measures to address these issues. Authorities continue to investigate such cases, often involving the finance authority and the construction industry oversight body.
