Holiday Season Kickoff: Sam's Club Debuts Initial Holiday Catalog

Tired of last-minute holiday shopping? Sam's Club is here to help! This year, they're kicking off the holiday spirit early with the launch of their very first holiday preview catalog, set to drop in October both online and in mailboxes. Besides this exciting new move, the retail giant will also be hosting holiday shopping events across five weekends in October, November, and December - double the number compared to 2020, thanks to a brand survey revealing that Sam's Club members want to get a head start on their holiday shopping this year.

With 20% of survey respondents saying they've already begun checking off their holiday lists, Sam's Club is ready to cater to early birds with a variety of holiday-themed merchandise, curated events, and brand collaborations. Shoppers can expect a mix of old favorites and new additions, such as exclusive partnerships with Gap, Steve Madden, and DKNY, as well as 25 promising new toy brands.

Catalogs, believe it or not, still hold a special place in the world of retail, both online and offline. Instead of getting lost in the sea of daily marketing emails, a catalog can stand out, particularly during the holidays, stirring up feelings of nostalgia. In the past, catalogs have served as a highly effective sales channel, even in our digital age.

For instance, during the COVID-19 pandemic, about 20 values-driven brands teamed up to create a holiday catalog to attract new customers, while Crate and Barrel went digital, showcasing items like furniture, bedding, and toys on Pinterest. On the flip side, some brands have steered clear of catalogs in recent years, like Ikea, which stopped producing its iconic catalog after 70 years last December.

For Sam's Club, this new catalog is just one part of its plans to make the holiday season shine brighter. Alongside its extended shopping events and the 35-page holiday catalog, Sam's Club will also create "unexpected moments" with celebrity appearances, weekly demos, and festive decorations. "Our members pay to shop with us, and they deserve a special experience," said Megan Crozier, chief merchant of Sam's Club, in a statement. "Sam's Club will 'Bring the Merry' with more this holiday season - more quality items in the club and online, more value, more ways to shop, and more special experiences to delight our members all season long."

So, get ready to mark your calendars and start preparations early this year. With Sam's Club's new holiday preview catalog and extended shopping events, the countdown to a jolly holiday season begins!
