High-tension cables linked between Zirndorf and Gebersdorf
In response to the growing power demand in the power grid, particularly due to the energy transition, N-ERGIE Netz GmbH has announced a maintenance and expansion project for a high-voltage line spanning 80 kilometers between Zirndorf (district of Fürth) and Rottendorf (district of Würzburg).
Initially, the company had planned to dismantle the line entirely. However, the increasing power demand and the influence of the energy transition have led to a change in plans. Instead, the high-voltage line will be maintained and expanded, with a section between Zirndorf and Gebersdorf now included in the project.
The maintenance and expansion project is focused on a specific high-voltage line that extends south to Nuremberg-Gebersdorf. On a 4.3-kilometer stretch, the line will be replaced by a high-voltage cable, with part of this replacement occurring between Zirndorf and Gebersdorf. The section between Zirndorf and Gebersdorf is currently being newly built.
The maintenance and expansion project is scheduled for the coming months and will take place within the districts of Fürth and Würzburg. The decision not to dismantle the line between Zirndorf and Rottendorf is a testament to the evolving power demands in the power grid and the company's commitment to meeting these demands.
