In the realm of beauty and personal care, sustainability is no longer an afterthought but a priority. Three brands – Evolve Organic Beauty, Fa, and Wild – are leading the charge with innovative packaging solutions for their products.

Evolve Organic Beauty has introduced refills for its African Orange Aromatic Hand & Body Wash and Superfood Shine Shampoo, designed to be used with home refilling systems. The new bottles, made from fibre-based materials by Pulpex, can be recycled alongside paper and cardboard.

Meanwhile, Fa has announced a series of eco-friendly changes. Selected variants of their deodorants now contain 50% recycled aluminium, and their 250ml and 400ml shower gels have been converted to transparent bottles made from 100% recycled plastic. The brand's new design emphasizes its signature water wave element, signifying refreshment.

Wild, another trailblazer, has unveiled a refillable roll-on deodorant, designed by Morrama. The deodorant features plastic-free refills made from a compostable material called Vivomer. The 50ml refill for Wild's deodorant is also compostable.

These initiatives reflect a broader trend in the industry. Companies like Nestlé have launched products with 100% renewable plastic bottles, aligning with industry trends aiming for fully recyclable packaging by 2025 and substantial recycled material content by 2030.

The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation is expected to be updated in 2025, further pushing companies to adopt sustainable packaging practices. As supermarkets increasingly adopt strategies for increasing the use of reusable packaging, it's clear that the future of beauty and personal care products is green.

However, it's important to note that while these brands are making strides in sustainability, specific details about their progress and the materials used in their packaging are not always readily available. As consumers, it's essential to continue asking questions and demanding transparency from the brands we support.

In the end, the move towards sustainable packaging is not just about reducing waste; it's about creating a cleaner, healthier planet for all.
