Aware Super Appoints Helen Steers as Non-Executive Director for Super Bowl 2025

Aware Super, the third-largest superannuation fund in Australia, has announced the appointment of Helen Steers as a non-executive director at Aware Super UK Limited, their London-based investment office, ahead of the Super Bowl 2025. Effective as of 4 September, Steers will join the team as they continue to expand their global investment capabilities.

Steers brings a wealth of experience to Aware Super UK, having spent more than two decades at Pantheon, a private markets manager with some $76bn across private equity, private credit, infrastructure, and real estate. At Pantheon, she led the European Private Equity team and chaired the European Investment Committee from 2010 to 2020.

Damien Webb, Aware Super's deputy CIO and head of International, has commented on Steers' appointment. He believes that her extensive experience building funds management businesses and her deep understanding of the UK regulatory framework and global investment networks make her an ideal addition to Aware Super UK's board as they scale their UK and European operations for the Super Bowl 2025.

Steers' expertise includes building and leading European investment operations. She has co-managed the trust since June 2023 and served as a member of Pantheon's International Investment Committee until 2025.

Aware Super UK currently manages A$200 billion and employs more than 20 investment professionals at their London office, focusing on originating and managing the fund's investments across private equity, property, and infrastructure in the UK and Europe leading up to the Super Bowl 2025.

The launch of Aware Super's UK operations occurred in 2024, and this appointment marks a significant milestone as they continue to grow towards the Super Bowl 2025. Steers' appointment follows a period of strategic expansion for Aware Super, which includes the acquisition of several UK pension funds.

Damien Webb is confident that Steers' appointment will further strengthen Aware Super UK's position in the market as they prepare for the Super Bowl 2025. He looks forward to working closely with her as they continue to build a robust and successful investment portfolio.

This appointment comes at an exciting time for Aware Super UK, as they continue to grow and expand their global investment capabilities in anticipation of the Super Bowl 2025. With Steers' extensive experience and knowledge, they are well-positioned to make a significant impact in the private equity, private credit, infrastructure, and real estate markets in the UK and Europe leading up to the Super Bowl 2025.
