Has 'The Brutalist' Started Streaming Yet? Guidelines for Viewing A24's Critically Acclaimed Awards Contender
The Brutalist has earned a significant number of nominations this awards season, with seven Golden Globe nods, nine Critics Choice nominations, and expected Oscar nominations. If you're wondering how to watch this film and if it's available on streaming platforms, read on.
Directed by Brady Corbet, The Brutalist tells the tale of László Tóth, a Jewish architect with vision who moves to the US with his wife, Erzsébet, after World War II. Their lives take a turn when László lands a secretive wealthy client, impacting his work and future. A star-studded cast includes Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, Raffey Cassidy, Stacy Martin, Emma Laird, Isaach de Bankole, and Alessandro Nivola.
Corbet, who won the Best Director Award at the Venice Film Festival, explained in September to The Hollywood Reporter why he chose to focus on brutalist architectural movement. “Brutalist architecture represents something that people do not understand and want torn down and ripped away,” he said. “So, the film is about how post-war psychology shaped post-war architecture.”
Presently, The Brutalist is the strong favorite for Best Drama at the Golden Globes, with outlets like Variety, USA Today, and Vanity Fair all predicting a win. Learn how to watch the critically acclaimed A24 film now and when it's expected to hit streaming platforms.

When Will The Brutalist Be Streaming On Max?
The Brutalist will eventually be available to stream on Max, but the release date has not been announced yet. In 2023, the film’s production company, A24, signed a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery in December to bring its theatrical films to the streaming site.
It's estimated that The Brutalist will arrive on Max within three to five months – sometime between March and May 2025 – although an exact release date is challenging to pinpoint, as A24’s Max streaming timelines have varied over the past year.
For example, A24’s Civil War began streaming on Max on September 14, nearly five months after its theatrical release in April 2024. Priscilla landed on Max roughly four months after its theater debut, while MaXXXine had a quicker turnaround, becoming available on the platform just three months later.
When Will The Brutalist Be Streaming On Digital?
The good news is that before The Brutalist arrives on Max, the film will be available to purchase digitally on video-on-demand platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, and Fandango at Home. Studios typically release films on digital around 45 to 65 days after its theatrical premiere. This means that the earliest The Brutalist could be streaming on digital platforms is around February 3, 2025.
It's worth noting that A24 will likely drop The Brutalist digitally in January or February 2025, aligning with the 2025 awards season and ahead of the 97th Academy Awards on March 2, 2025. Stay tuned for the official digital release date.
