Hannover's New 5M Euro Siren System to Debut on Sept 12
Hannover's fire department is preparing the city for emergencies with a new siren warning system. The 5 million euro investment, set to be fully operational by the end of the year, will complement existing warning means and ensure the safety of residents.
The system, consisting of rising and falling tone sequences, will generate effective warnings and wake-up signals. It will be tested for the first watch time on German Civil Defence Day, September 12 at 11 am, with 80 of the planned 112 sirens ready for action. The city already boasts a range of warning means, including cell broadcast, warning apps, loudspeaker vehicles, and internet channels.
Director Christoph Bahlmann advises that the loud signals may trigger unpleasant feelings in some, emphasizing the importance of advance information about the test. The sirens will be installed on municipal land or buildings, with locations yet to be officially announced. Dr. Axel von der Ohe, Hannover's First Mayor, stresses the system's importance in quickly warning and protecting the population in emergencies.
Hannover's new siren warning system, an investment in resident safety, will be tested on September 12. Residents are advised to stay informed about the test and the system's locations. The city's diverse warning means aim to ensure everyone stays safe and informed in case of emergencies.
