Göttingen's Summer Road Closures: Major Detours Ahead
Göttingen residents and visitors can expect significant road closures and detours this summer due to major construction projects. The city aims to minimise disruption, but some roads will be closed for several weeks.
From 24 June to 13 July, Bürgerstraße will be fully closed between Angerstraße and Groner-Tor-Straße. During this time, Berliner Straße will have a partial closure between Groner-Tor-Straße and Goetheallee. From 22 to 26 July, the intersection of Robert-Koch-Straße / Kreuzbergring will be closed to all traffic. Additionally, Berliner Straße will be fully closed in the southbound direction between Godehardstraße and Groner-Tor-Straße from 22 July to 3 August.
These closures will affect bus traffic, with detours signposted. Hannoversche Straße will be closed northbound from 22 to 26 July for decking repairs. From 15 to 20 July, Bürgerstraße will be closed eastbound between Groner Landstraße and Lotzestraße.
These road closures and detours are part of the city's plan to carry out major road construction projects during the summer holidays of 2024. The aim is to keep restrictions for road users as low as possible. However, some disruptions are inevitable, and drivers are advised to plan their routes accordingly.
