Global Law Firm Announces Partner and Director Promotions

Global law firm XYZ has announced the promotion of 54 lawyers to partner and director, effective January 1, 2022. The promotions span 11 practice areas, reflecting the firm's commitment to diversity and expertise across various legal disciplines.

Diversity in Leadership

Twenty-three of the 54 promoted lawyers are women, accounting for 43 percent of the total. This reflects a growing focus on gender diversity within the firm, as women continue to face underrepresentation in senior and partnership roles. Women now make up over 50% of associates but still represent a minority in law firm partnerships and leadership positions globally.

Promotions by Practice Area

In the litigation and disputes practice area, 18 lawyers were promoted, including Louisa Roe in London, UK, and Geraldine Young in Houston, USA. The banking and finance practice area saw nine promotions, with Alex Zekkos in London, UK, and Fiona Henderson in New York, USA among them.

Rebecca Winthrop was promoted in the bankruptcy, financial restructuring and insolvency practice area, based in Los Angeles, USA. Darren Smith was promoted in the intellectual property practice area, based in Houston, USA. Laura Kiwelu was promoted in the projects practice area, based in London, UK. Jared Kaplan and Alberta Yan were promoted in the corporate, M&A and securities practice area, based in New York, USA. Justin Coddington was promoted in the tax practice area, also based in Houston, USA.

In the employment and labor practice area, Claudia Posluschny was promoted, based in Munich. In the antitrust and competition practice area, Helen Fairhead was promoted, based in London, UK. Victoria Corder was promoted in the litigation and disputes practice area, based in New York, USA. Daniel Ng was promoted in the litigation and disputes practice area, based in Hong Kong. Nathan Baum was promoted in the litigation and disputes practice area, based in Dallas, USA.

Anna Rudawski was promoted in the information governance, privacy and cybersecurity practice area, based in New York, USA. Nicolas Sirtoli was promoted in the corporate, M&A and securities practice area, based in London, UK. Rachel Chan was promoted in the corporate, M&A and securities practice area, based in Hong Kong. Zayba Drabu was promoted in the litigation and disputes practice area, based in London, UK.

Regional Promotions

Promotions were also announced in South Africa, Australia, and Canada. In South Africa, Paul Cartwright was promoted in the litigation and disputes practice area, based in Johannesburg. In Australia, Kate Green, Harriet Oldmeadow, and Nick Sinclair received promotions in litigation and disputes, banking and finance respectively, in Sydney and Perth.

In Canada, Robin Acworth, Véronique Barry, Scott Boucher, Brian Chau, Matthew Choi, Jenna Anne de Jong, Russell Dufault, Alison FitzGerald, Caroline Jodoin, Jonathan Lafrance, Brigitte LeBlanc-Lapointe, Jennifer McPherson, Brian Milne, Fahad Siddiqui, Joshua Sprague, Nikita Stepin, Tim Stewart received promotions in various practice areas across Calgary, Québec, Vancouver, Ottawa, and Montréal.
