German Industry Embracing Climate-Friendly Practices, Industry 4.0

A significant shift is underway in German industry, with companies increasingly embracing climate-friendly practices. A substantial majority recognise the role of Industry 4.0 in conserving resources and reducing emissions.

Currently, 31% of manufacturing companies utilise climate-friendly production materials, with another 39% planning to adopt them. This trend is supported by the belief that Industry 4.0 can help German industry become a pioneer in climate-friendly production.

Industrial companies are taking note, with 73% acknowledging that Industry 4.0 conserves resources in production. Furthermore, the majority of these companies believe that Industry 4.0 reduces CO2 emissions. To this end, 34% of companies are planning to commit to reducing CO2 emissions, with every second industrial company already having made this commitment.

Messe München, among other companies, has pledged to reduce its CO2 emissions through a self-commitment program. Known as 'Klimapakt 3 Münchner Wirtschaft', this initiative involves 16 companies, including Google and Telekom, collaborating on climate protection measures with the aim of achieving 'Net Zero 2050'.

The commitment to sustainability is growing among German industrial companies. With 23% having developed a sustainability strategy and 40% planning to do so, the future looks promising for a greener, more efficient industry.
