Funds to the tune of $1.7 million have been secured by Nowlun, an Egyptian company, for the development of its freight forwarding platform

Nowlun, a digital freight forwarding platform based in Alexandria, Egypt, has successfully raised $1.7 million in a seed funding round and announced plans for regional expansion. The company, which already has offices in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, aims to establish a stronger presence across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and Turkey.

The expansion strategy focuses on leveraging Nowlun's digital platform to enter these new markets, which are significant logistics hubs. By Q4 2025, Nowlun plans to launch operations in the United Arab Emirates, followed by further expansion into the GCC countries and Turkey in early 2026.

The Nowlun platform offers real-time pricing and shipping management features, including shipment tracking. Customers can compare rates from over 30 shipping lines in real-time, streamlining the entire shipping process from price comparison to customs clearance and inland trucking.

Moataz Khamis, CEO and co-founder of Nowlun, expressed his commitment to transforming the logistics industry using cutting-edge technology. Khamis, along with Mahmoud Khaled and Ahmed Emara, founded the company in 2021.

The funding round was led by Nama Ventures and A15, with participation from Sanabil 500 Global and angel investors. Mohammed Alzubi, founder and managing partner of Nama Ventures, was impressed by Nowlun's deep domain expertise, strong traction in the Saudi market, and clear vision for disrupting the logistics space.

Nowlun has also joined the XLProjects network, which may facilitate future collaborations and partnerships in the logistics and freight forwarding industry. As part of its growth strategy, the company is recruiting experienced operations managers to support its expansion, including roles in project cargo and breakbulk operations.

With this planned rollout, Nowlun demonstrates its intent to capitalize on logistics demand across the GCC and nearby regions following its successful seed funding. The company's commitment to leveraging technology to streamline the freight forwarding process bodes well for the future of the logistics industry in the MENA region.
