Flatbed transportation services broadened by Trimac through purchase of Searcy Trucking company
In a move to further bolster its flatbed and heavy haul capabilities, Canadian bulk hauler Trimac Transportation has announced the acquisition of Searcy Trucking, a leading flatbed and heavy haul carrier based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The deal, which closed last week, brings over 120 trucks and 170 trailers under Trimac's umbrella. Searcy Trucking, serving the construction, agriculture, and manufacturing industries, adds to Trimac's existing fleet of more than 140 locations in the U.S. and Canada, operated by a team of 3,400 employees.
Matt Faure, Trimac's president and CEO, expressed his excitement about the acquisition, stating, "This acquisition will create more value for our customers and expand possibilities for our teams across North America."
In a statement, Norm Blagden, president of Searcy Trucking, echoed Faure's sentiments, saying, "Becoming part of Trimac is the right next step for our employees, customers, and the future of specialized transportation."
Notably, this is not Trimac's first foray into acquisitions. In 2021, they acquired Sunset Transportation, a prominent flatbed and heavy haul carrier based in the U.S., significantly expanding their capacity and footprint in the flatbed market.
Trimac's strategy has been to integrate specialized carriers to enhance its service offerings in heavy haul and flatbed sectors, aiming to provide comprehensive logistics solutions for oversized and heavy freight.
Following the acquisition, Searcy Trucking's leadership team will remain in place, and the company will continue to operate under its current banner. Additionally, no changes in the operational structure or services of Searcy Trucking were disclosed.

The acquisition of Searcy Trucking is expected to further solidify Trimac's position as a leading provider of flatbed, less-than-truckload, and specialized transportation services in Western Canada and the U.S. Midwest.
