FIDE's Saint Louis Tournament Flight 1c on Track to Shatter Entry Record

The International Chess Federation (FIDE) is hosting a four-winged tournament in Saint Louis, USA, with entries for Flight 1c expected to surge significantly in the final hours. As of now, there are 119 entries, with the registration window open for almost 5 more hours. This follows the trend from January's 4-Flight, where Flight 1c had 385 entries, contributing to a combined field of over 1,000 entries by its end.

The tournament, offering a combined prize pool of over $266,970, has seen a total of 809 entries across the three flights so far. Flight 1c is on track to finish with over 1,200 entries, surpassing the previous record. Meanwhile, Flight 1b still has more than an hour left for rebuys, and Flight 1d is scheduled for the next day. The organisers anticipate a significant increase in entries for Flight 1c in the remaining hours, potentially breaking the 1,000-entry mark for a single flight.

With the final hours ticking away, Flight 1c is poised to set a new record for entries in a single flight at the FIDE-organised tournament in Saint Louis. The increased interest reflects the event's growing popularity and the substantial prize pool on offer.
