Farmers Now Eligible for Loans Worth Tk 10 Lakh for Goat Rearing
The Bangladesh Bank has announced a new agricultural loan scheme for goat farming, as part of the broader Agricultural and Rural Credit Policy and Programme for the fiscal year 2025-26. This initiative aims to support small-scale goat farmers in the country.
Under this scheme, farmers can avail loans up to Tk 10 lakh for goat farming. The loan applies to farms with a maximum of 50 goats, and the interest rate for this loan scheme is set at 4%. The financing covers the cost of purchasing up to 50 goats, including a one-time loan disbursement for shed construction.
Priority will be given to women and marginal farmers when selecting loan recipients. It is important to note that the policy does not specify a minimum loan amount or provide details about repayment terms or eligibility criteria.
The target for agricultural loan disbursement for the fiscal year 2025-26 is Tk390 billion, an increase from Tk380 billion in the previous fiscal year.
Bank branches are required to keep records of loans disbursed under this scheme and provide the information to Bangladesh Bank or the bank's head office if requested.
