Expensive Rat Trap Installation: Washing Machine Malfunctions Following €6,900 Spend on Setting Up Three Traps

In Regensburg, Germany, a series of unsettling events have unfolded surrounding the company Haustechnik Connor, also known as Haustechnik FC, based in Essen. The company, which offers pest control services, has been accused of overcharging customers for rat extermination, with one elderly woman, Maria Schneider, being the latest victim.

Maria encountered a rat in her apartment about two weeks ago. Two men from Haustechnik Connor, posing as pest controllers, arrived at her home, promising to tackle the problem. However, their services came at a steep price - each rat trap they set up cost 299 euros, amounting to a total bill of nearly 7,000 euros for the job, which took place on July 12th.

This is not the first time Haustechnik Connor has been embroiled in such a controversy. In May, the company demanded nearly 5,000 euros from an elderly woman for repairing a sink. This incident is related to the ongoing scam trial under the heading "Handwerker-Engel" at the Landgericht Regensburg.

When Maria questioned the exorbitant charges, discussions ensued, but the company always pressed for immediate payment. Fortunately, Maria was able to prevent the transfer just in time by calling her bank on Monday.

Maria, in her search for an emergency service, found the website kammerjaeger247.de, which advertises itself as a "nationwide pest control expert." A woman from a company called Keller, supposedly based in Oberhausen, answered Maria's call from the Kammerjäger247.de number and promised to send someone for the rat problem.

However, since mentioning Regensburg and the case of the 70-year-old with the sink, there has been radio silence from Haustechnik Connor. The three rat traps were never picked up again.

When contacted about the issue, no response was received from Haustechnik Connor via email. An anonymized invoice for the rat extermination job is published in this article for public viewing.

If you find yourself dealing with a similar situation, it's crucial to take precautions. Research the company, get multiple quotes, request detailed invoices, and avoid upfront full payments. If you believe you’ve been scammed, report the incident to consumer protection agencies or local authorities. Sharing your experience can help prevent others from falling victim.

If you need help drafting a complaint or handling disputes with such a company, feel free to reach out. Stay vigilant and protect yourself from fraudulent activities.

  1. The ongoing scam trial at the Landgericht Regensburg involving Haustechnik Connor centers around accusations of overcharging customers for both general-news (rat extermination) and business (repairing a sink) services.
  2. In the wake of Maria Schneider's harrowing experience with Haustechnik Connor's finance practices and the subsequent fraud accusations, it's advisable for consumers to be extra cautious with pest control and repair companies, ensuring research, multiple quotes, thorough invoices, and avoiding upfront full payments to prevent crime-and-justice cases like this one.
