VC Wiesbaden Aims for Sustainable Success and National Finals

Volleyball-Club Wiesbaden (VCW) has announced a promising future as they strive for sustainable success and ambitious goals. The club, under the leadership of Joachim Raczek, Chairman of 1. Volleyball-Club Wiesbaden e.V., has achieved a balanced budget for VC Wiesbaden Spielbetriebs GmbH and the registered association.

Since September 2025, the management of VC Wiesbaden Spielbetriebs GmbH consists of Christopher Fetting, who has been in office since 2019, and Thomas Utsch, a restructuring expert who joined as a pro bono Managing Director in the fall of 2024. Utsch is also a representative of the association.

The 2025/2026 season is focused on developing young international national team players such as Sanne Konijnenberg, Jimena Fernández Gayoso, Cayetana López Rey, and Pleun van der Pijl. The club is aiming to reach national finals in the coming years and qualify for the Champions League by 2030.

The "VCW@2030" strategy, led by Thomas Utsch, is restructuring VC Wiesbaden both athletically and legally, focusing on economic viability, talent development, home games as events, and brand identity. Alicja Feltens is the external communications and branding expert, coordinating activities that complement athletic talent promotion with relevant aspects.

VCW has convinced existing lenders and new investors of a reliable and sustainable future concept. The club continues to hold the majority of shares in VC Wiesbaden Spielbetriebs GmbH and has the final say in important and strategic decisions.

In terms of the upcoming season, three double-game days are particularly attractive for local fans: November 1, 2025, January 11, and February 14, 2026, with VCW 2 and then the professionals playing consecutively in the home arena. The VC Wiesbaden women's team begins their 1. Volleyball Bundesliga season with an away game against the Ladies in Black Aachen on October 11, 2025, and their first home game is on October 19, 2025, against the Skurios Volleys Borken.

The DVV Cup's round of 16 features a match between VCW and Aachen, scheduled for November 8 or 9, 2025, in Wiesbaden. VC Wiesbaden sent positive signals, steering the financially threatened organization back into calmer waters through a package of measures.

Nina Wienand Herelová, former VCW captain, is now supporting the management in partner management. Benedikt Frank is now responsible for both sports director positions in VC Wiesbaden Spielbetriebs GmbH and 1. Volleyball-Club Wiesbaden e.V.

Sustainable success is only created in harmony between sporting performance and economic stability, according to Joachim Raczek. The path must now be continued through strict cost discipline, restructuring measures, and attractive participation measures. With these changes and goals in place, VC Wiesbaden is poised for a promising future, aiming to create a sustainable and balanced environment for both sporting success and financial stability.
