The State Domain Hochburg in Emmendingen is undergoing a significant transformation, with Property and Construction Freiburg leading the project. The first phase of construction includes the creation of a new dairy and young cattle stall, complete with a timber-framed, open-air design to ensure optimal ventilation and lighting.

A key feature of this new stall building is its roof, which will be covered with a photovoltaic system boasting a capacity of 405 kilowatt-peak (kWp). This solar power system, spanning an area of 1,802 square meters and consisting of 902 modules, is expected to generate a substantial amount of clean, renewable energy.

In line with the project's commitment to sustainability, the animals at the State Domain Hochburg will continue to receive drinking water from a state-owned spring on the domain's premises. Furthermore, the project includes the construction of a new solid manure slab and slurry storage, highlighting the comprehensive approach towards sustainable agriculture practices.

The state is investing approximately 8.8 million euros in this project, demonstrating a strong commitment to renewable energy and sustainable farming. Notably, the new stall building will not be connected to the public power grid, relying instead on the photovoltaic system for electricity.

This project at the State Domain Hochburg in Emmendingen is a significant step towards promoting renewable energy and sustainable agriculture practices. It serves as a shining example of how traditional farming can be modernised while maintaining a strong connection to the environment.
