EU Customs Destroy Non-Compliant Goods in Major Operation
Authorities have taken action against non-compliant and counterfeit goods in the EU. A customs inspection in Paderborn led to the destruction of numerous items under supervision.
The operation resulted in 106 non-compliant articles being identified, with issues such as missing or incorrect CE marking and lack of German-language instructions. These goods failed to meet EU product safety regulations. Among the seized items were children's toys, electric vehicles, sports equipment, and multimedia items. Additionally, 45 articles infringed on protected intellectual property rights or were unlicensed, leading to 26 legal proceedings. Counterfeit keychains, headphones, and charging cables were among the items found to violate these rights.
Organizations linked to these violations have been assigned control projects. However, specific organization names were not provided in the available information. Market surveillance authorities were notified, with 40 control notifications sent out to address the issue.
The destruction of these goods under customs supervision ensures they do not pose a risk to consumers. The assigned control projects aim to prevent future violations and maintain product safety within the EU. The specific organizations involved are being investigated and will face appropriate actions.
