'Escaping the Present' Indicates the Title of the Extensive Documentary Focusing on Ozzy Osbourne
In a recent announcement, streaming service Paramount+ revealed plans for a new documentary titled "Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now." This feature-length film delves into the health challenges and upcoming final performance of the legendary metal vocalist, Ozzy Osbourne. Director BAFTA winner Tania Alexander helms the project, produced by Echo Velvet in collaboration with the Osbournes and MTV Entertainment Studios.
The documentary will offer an unvarnished glimpse into Ozzy's life, focusing on his health setbacks since 2019, including a recent Parkinson's diagnosis and a severe fall. Music's role in sustaining him during these trying times is a central theme in the film.
Osbourne shared his sentiments on social media, expressing gratitude for music and stating, "The last six years have been full of some of the worst times I’ve been through. There’s been times when I thought my number was up, but making music and making two albums saved me. I’d have gone nuts without music."
The announcement came alongside details of Osbourne's last two solo albums, Ordinary Man (2020) and Patient Number 9 (2022), marking a powerful comeback for the metal icon. However, his return to live performances has been limited, despite headlining the Power Trip festival in 2023, which he ultimately had to withdraw from due to health reasons.
With the announcement of "Back to the Beginning," a Birmingham metal festival hosting Ozzy Osbourne's final live performance with Black Sabbath, fans are eager to know how much Osbourne will perform. Osbourne clarified that he does not plan on performing a full set, but rather, "little bits and pieces." The star-studded lineup of this all-star concert event might include other legendary musicians joining the stage with Black Sabbath.
The documentary, set to air on Paramount+ later in 2025, will offer an intimate account of Ozzy's final performance with Black Sabbath at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, on July 5, 2025, alongside notable acts like Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, and Tool. The filming process began during Ozzy's album recording sessions for Patient Number 9 and will continue through the summer of 2025.
It will include appearances from Sharon Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Duff McKagan, Robert Trujillo, Billy Idol, Maynard James Keenan, Chad Smith, Zakk Wylde, Andrew Watt, and Billy Morrison.
