Energy Efficiency Initiative: Preparing Our Homes for a Sustainable Future

In a bid to promote energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions, the Consumer Center NRW in Langenfeld is launching a special action 'Energiesparen' in cooperation with Mettmann District, starting from September 2025.

The action offers individual energy-saving consultations for homeowners and private landlords in Langenfeld. During these 90-minute home visits, an energy advisor will inspect both the building shell and the technical equipment for a comprehensive walkthrough of the property.

Registration for the action has been possible since September 15, 2025, and can be done by phone at 02173 8492505 or via email at [email protected].

Participation in the energy consultation by the Consumer Center NRW does not require ordering an energy report from Mettmann District. However, the energy report of Mettmann District, based on a near-comprehensive thermographic survey of the region, provides a solid foundation for concrete follow-up measures. The energy reports can be ordered online via the project partner CLIMAP of Mettmann District at www.climap.de/energiebericht.

The fee for the energy consultation at your own property is 40 euros, payable in cash to the consultant on-site. This fee does not include the cost for the energy report, which is 59.50 euros.

The consultations will take place until autumn 2025. The subsequent written report will provide tailored recommendations for renovation and tips on funding.

Jens Hecker, Climate Protection Officer of the website, explains that energy saving isn't one-size-fits-all and individual consultation is important. He emphasises that less CO2 and more living comfort - that also pays off in the long run. According to energy advisor Isabelle Uebach from the Consumer Center in Langenfeld, the consultations are part of the special action 'Energiesparen' and aim to support households in discovering their personal energy-saving opportunities.

The thermal images obtained from the energy report reveal energy weaknesses in buildings, offering a clear picture of where improvements can be made. The energy report of Mettmann District and the energy consultations by the Consumer Center NRW are part of a comprehensive support program, working together to help households in Langenfeld reduce their energy consumption and costs.
