In July 2025, producer prices for industrial products experienced a significant decrease of 1.5% year-on-year, according to recent data. The key factor contributing to this decline was primarily the significant drop in energy prices, which fell by 6.8% compared to July 2024.

The prices for natural gas distribution saw the biggest influence on this decrease, with a decline of 8.6%. Other energy prices, such as electricity and light heating oil, also contributed to the overall decrease, being 7.8% and 5.7% cheaper respectively compared to the previous year.

In addition to energy prices, lower prices for intermediate goods also contributed to the overall producer price decline. Specifically, raw iron, steel, and ferroalloys were 5.9% cheaper, while metal prices were 2.2% cheaper in July 2025 compared to July 2024.

However, it's worth noting that not all sectors experienced a price decrease. Producer prices for non-durable consumer goods, durable consumer goods, and capital goods saw increases during the same period. When excluding energy prices, producer prices actually rose by 1.0% year on year, indicating that energy price changes were the dominant factor behind the overall decrease.

In the materials sector, some products saw a decrease in price, such as chemical raw materials (2.6% cheaper), wheat flour (3.3% cheaper), and copper and semi-finished products from it (4.8% cheaper). However, other products, like processed and finished flat glass (1.8% higher), wood and wood and cork products (4.8% more expensive), and paper, cardboard, and products made from them (1.4% more expensive) saw price increases.

The prices for agricultural products, such as feed for farm animals, also experienced a decrease, being 0.6% cheaper in July 2025 compared to July 2024. The prices for reinforcing steel were also lower, being 0.7% cheaper in July 2025 compared to July 2024.

In contrast, some energy prices, such as district heating, saw a decrease of 2.1% compared to July 2024. However, mineral oil products were 7.9% cheaper than in July 2024.

Interestingly, the prices for machinery cost 1.8% more than in July 2024, while the prices for glass and glassware were 1.4% more expensive, and the prices for hollow glass were 4.7% cheaper in July 2025 compared to July 2024.
