Former Tax Representative Ordered to Pay Compensation for Damages

In a recent ruling by the Abu Dhabi Family Members and Civil Administrative Situations Court, a former employee has been ordered to pay Dh100,000 in compensation to his previous company. The court also instructed the offender to cover the company's legal expenses.

The former employee, who worked as a tax obligation representative for the company, was found to have revealed confidential information about his previous workplace after he surrendered. This revelation was considered destructive to the company, leading to significant losses.

The court papers stated that the employee's actions resulted in the company losing a significant amount of money, several clients, and caused material and moral damages. The company filed a civil lawsuit against the employee, demanding Dh490,000.

Previous to this, the offender was convicted and fined Dh10,000 in a criminal situation. The court ruling was issued on 9 January 2023.

It's worth noting that a search for similar cases did not yield any results. The search results found relate to an unrelated case involving a compensation claim dismissed by an Abu Dhabi court concerning a car repair company.

This case serves as a reminder of the importance of confidentiality and the potential consequences of breaching it. The former employee's actions were found to have caused substantial harm to the company, leading to the court's decision to order him to pay compensation and cover legal expenses.

This former tax representative, implicated in a damaging breach of confidentiality, was ordered by the court to pay compensation totaling Dh100,000 and cover the company's legal expenses in a ruling connected to general-news and crime-and-justice. Moreover, the offender was previously fined Dh10,000 in a criminal situation.
