VinFast, the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, is set to officially launch its VF6 model in India on September 6, 2025. The VF6, along with its sibling VF7, will be locally manufactured at VinFast's facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.

The VinFast VF6 comes equipped with a battery capacity of 59.6 kWh, providing an estimated range of 468 km. It offers Level 2 ADAS, a 12.9-inch touchscreen, head-up display, panoramic roof, and flush door handles. To sweeten the deal, VinFast has promised after-sales sweeteners for the VF6, including limited-period free charging, warranties on the battery and vehicle, and an expanding dealer-service network. The VF6 is priced between ₹16.49 lakh and ₹18 lakh, placing it in the mid-range EV segment.

On the other hand, MG Motors has introduced its Windsor EV in India. Priced at ₹13.99 lakh, the Windsor EV undercuts the VF6 and appeals to a more budget-conscious buyer. The Windsor EV offers a dual-battery strategy, with options for a 38 kWh battery (332 km range) and a 52.9 kWh battery (449 km range). It comes with connected car technology, an "infinity-view" panoramic roof, and an ADAS suite on higher trims. MG offers warranties of up to ten years on the battery and seven years on the vehicle for the Windsor EV.

The higher trims of the MG Windsor EV overlap directly with the VF6, making them natural rivals. Both vehicles offer advanced features and competitive pricing, promising an exciting competition in India's electric vehicle market.

For a newcomer brand like VinFast, the after-sales support and reassurance provided are as important as the product itself in the Indian market. VinFast wants the VF6 to challenge not just MG but also newer entrants in the ₹15-20 lakh EV space.

In India, the MG Windsor EV's established network of dealers and workshops may influence purchase decisions as much as the vehicle's spec sheet. The Pro variant of the MG Windsor EV starts at ₹17.24 lakh, ensuring that MG does not cede ground to the fresher competitor. The Windsor EV also boasts six airbags and V2L capability.

As both companies prepare to launch their electric vehicles in India, the race is on to capture the growing electric vehicle market. With competitive pricing, advanced features, and strong after-sales support, the battle between VinFast VF6 and MG Windsor EV promises to be an exciting one.
