Electric sports car Rimac Nevera breaks 0-60 mph speed record, along with additional achievements.
The Rimac Nevera R, the latest electric hypercar from Croatian automaker Rimac, has made history by setting an impressive 24 new world records in acceleration and top speed. The record-breaking runs were conducted at Germany’s Automotive Testing Papenburg (ATP) facility, where the Nevera R demonstrated unmatched acceleration, braking, and quarter-mile times among electric hypercars.
The Nevera R, with its monstrous 2,107 horsepower delivered through four electric motors, has reclaimed the 0-400-0 km/h (0-249-0 mph) title, completing the run in 25.79 seconds. This impressive feat surpasses the previous records set by both the standard Nevera and the Koenigsegg Regera.
One of the most remarkable records set by the Nevera R is the 0-60 mph time of 1.66 seconds, 0.08 seconds faster than its advertised 1.74 seconds. The car also boasts a 0-100 km/h time of just 1.72 seconds, improving on the standard Nevera’s 1.81 seconds, and a top speed of 249 mph (400 km/h) in 17.35 seconds, about 4 seconds faster than the original Nevera.
Mate Rimac, founder and President of Rimac, stated that the record-breaking runs are part of a final validation program before customer deliveries. He mentioned that the Nevera R goes faster than the original Nevera while still maintaining comfort and practicality. Rimac also hinted at potential Nürburgring and Goodwood records for the Nevera R in the future.
The Nevera R’s impressive performance is attributed to its aerodynamic package, Michelin tires, and upgraded torque vectoring system, which improve its handling and traction. The tests for the Nevera R were independently verified by Dewesoft, a global leader in performance data acquisition.
The original Nevera made history at the same ATP facility in 2023, and with the Nevera R’s latest achievements, Rimac continues to push the boundaries of what electric hypercars can do. The Nevera R is limited to 40 units worldwide, starting at €2.3 million ($2.7 million USD). The electric hypercar is undoubtedly a testament to Rimac’s commitment to creating innovative and high-performance electric vehicles.
