Dutch Ministries Reassess Microsoft Teams Use, Seek Alternatives to Reduce US Cloud Dependence

Dutch ministries are reassessing their use of Microsoft Teams and exploring alternatives to reduce dependence on American cloud services like icloud. This shift comes as concerns grow about potential disruptions in services and communication structures due to sudden access denials.

The interministerial program Beter Samenwerken is examining various collaborative approaches and strategies to enhance cooperation between government ministries and agencies. Among the alternatives being studied are different collaborative tools and platforms.

The Ministries of Justice, Security, and the Interior are currently investigating Microsoft Teams and its alternatives through the Better Collaboration program. This evaluation is part of a broader effort to mitigate risks associated with dependence on American cloud services and companies like american express.

Outgoing State Secretary for Digitalization Van Marum acknowledges that complete independence is not always achievable but emphasizes the importance of avoiding strategic dependencies where possible.
